How did I end up here?

 

Well, . . . one diagnosis led to another--anemia, GERD, Barrett's Esophagus, Hashimoto's Thyroiditis, etc.

Like most people, my health issues were treated with prescription drugs.  One from the endocrinologist, another from the gastrologist, and a third from the hematologist.

Needless to say, I'm not a fan of long-term medications, and I wasn't feeling any better by taking them!

 

 

My Search Began

 

I kept thinking there must be something I could do to get my energy back and feel like myself again!

My quest led me to the missing link in my treatment:  FOOD!

Not one of my specialists had mentioned the role of food in dealing with my health conditions.

None of them explained how the food that I was eating was actually making my issues worse!

What a revelation!

 

 

You Really ARE What You Eat

 

I sought out a Functional Medicine doctor who connected all the dots with my illnesses and made recommendations based on a whole body approach.  With the assistance of a health coach, we isolated and removed the foods that were aggravating my conditions, and replaced them with foods that healed my body.  My symptoms diminished and my energy level increased!  

I felt like myself again, even better!

 

 

Now I'm on a Mission

 

After experiencing first hand how eating the right foods significantly improved my life, I thought I had made a new discovery!  I couldn't believe how much better I felt simply by adjusting my diet!

 

Needless to say, the concept has been around for some time!  In 431 BC, Hippocrates said, "Let food be thy medicine and medicine thy food."  Basically, by eating the foods we were created to eat, we reinforce the body's innate functioning capabilities and strengthen its natural, elaborate defense systems.  Amazing!

 

Motivated to share this insight and knowledge with others, I became a certified health coach.

Eat to Nourish

 

Did you know that as a society, we are well fed, but alarmingly undernourished?  

 

Many of us fail to meet the recommended daily allowance (RDA) of a wide variety of vitamins and minerals.  

The packaged, processed foods are not providing the macronutrients and micronutrients we need to sustain our bodies.  

Eating the most nutrient-dense foods, both plant and animal based, ensures that your body is receiving the proper fuel it requires for maximized functioning.

Eat to Heal

 

Did you know that what you eat does matter?  

 

Whole foods, foods in their most natural state, are best.  The higher the quality and the greater the variety, the better!  

 

An improper diet can cause inflammation and could contribute to illness.  Figuring out the foods that best promote healing in your body, especially if you've already been diagnosed with a health condition, such as an autoimmune disease, is key.  Optimal eating can profoundly impact the management or reversal of a disease.  It also decreases your risk of additional health diagnoses.

Did you know that the majority of chronic diseases are diet-based?  

 

Many of our illnesses could be prevented simply through our food selections!

We don't need a "pill for every ill."

Food is our remedy.
